I haven’t posted about eating in a while, though we’ve been doing plenty of it. Mr. Motor has to fuel his engine somehow!
The number of foods Ryan eats is growing. He’s even had his first grilled cheese (small piece of whole wheat bread with a little extra sharp cheddar on it, melted in the toaster oven). He loves pasta, beans, ground meat with garlic and spices. He...
I’m sure my absence hasn’t been noticed, but I promise to come up for air and start blogging soon. The move went very well, however it was hectic and I’m now on business travel. Missing my boys a lot tonight.
I do have a little news. On the evening we moved into our new house, Ryan crawled for the first time! He’d been getting around with scooting, shimmying, sort of...
I’m very behind on my bloggy dashboard, but am checking in quickly. We’re moving on Thursday and still have a lot to do. We went to Seattle to visit friends this weekend - bad timing, but worth it. Ryan played with babies, met one of my besties from college who was visiting Seattle for Chicago (the reason for the poorly timed but not to be missed trip), giggled with some of my gals and...
Today, we bought this:
And that calls for a celebration, right? Steve drove a Porsche Boxster pre-Ryan, but it’s a 2-seater so we sold it in preparation for him. We’ve been searching for the right 4-seat convertible for a while.
After we got home, all four of us walked to Wizer’s, our nearby gourmet market in Lake Oswego. We bought some provisions for dinner once Ryan went...
No one in this world can make Ryan laugh as hard as his daddy.
I have so much to say about today. It was one of those days that felt perfect, filled to the brim with love. I’ll leave it at this for tonight, though:
Ryan slept in this morning, still took his usual 1+ morning nap, and took a nearly 3 hour nap this afternoon. If only I knew why this happened, so I could recreate these conditions when convenient.
It’s a sunny Friday afternoon. I’m working from home while both boys take long afternoon naps. Around 5:00, I’ll log off and we’ll take a walk to the nearest park, lay a blanket in the grass, and sit in the shade. The sun shines brightly on us.
Beautiful pink and periwinkle sky over Lake Oswego tonight. I’m going to miss watching lights reflect off the water at night, and I know Ryan loves seeing the boats during the day. We’re moving in two weeks. We decided we really needed more space and have found a house. It’s only five blocks away, but I’ll miss our little condo by the lake.
Ryan Tate turned 9 months old this past Sunday. I’ve put off writing about it, because I’m in a bit of denial. I’m still working on letting go of the sadness that accompanies the joy I feel with each milestone he reaches. He’s had a few firsts this month and I’m very proud.
Ryan can give high-fives, clap and wave hello. He’s not consistent, though he’s...
Meal by meal, Ryan has gotten used to the Cheerios and even seems to enjoy them now. He fed himself one for the first time this morning. He’s also enjoyed the addition of herbs and spices to his meals. Last night’s dinner of chicken, zucchini, apples and rice with thyme may be an all-time favorite. I’m deluding myself into thinking that this will help stave off picky eating. A...
We went to a truly lovely wedding last night, but had some 4th of July family time during the day. We hit up our local park and Ryan communed with nature. The sun even came out for a few minutes, though we’ve not seen it since. He loves to bat at anything hanging overhead such as these leaves, especially inflated animals hanging from his daycare ceiling.
(Poor Daddy and his bruised...
It’s hard to see this -
And not feel nostalgic for this -
Ryan’s high five has turned into the Oprah high-five. Once our hands strike, he interlaces his fingers with mine and gives our hands a shake. RYAAAAAN TAAATE!
