Quick update
Thank you, everyone, for the very kind comments and good thoughts for Ryan. The rash had spread considerably by the time we got to the doctor’s office, but with Benadryl it nearly disappeared within 15 minutes. There’s no clear verdict on the cause. Could be the peanut butter, could be the kiwi, OR it could be a rash from the amoxicillin he was on for the previous week’s ear...
Allergy experts?
I held my breath today and gave Ryan peanut butter for the first time. After discovering the egg allergy, I’ve been skittish. He had a fair amount of it with a snack around 10:30, no reaction. Yay! Then, I fed him lunch around 12:00. Grilled cheese and half a kiwi. Red face, red belly. But he’s had kiwi once before and nothing happened. Is it possible that he’s allergic to the...
I didn’t understand the significance of “cold and flu season” until now. Ryan wasn’t sick all spring or summer, and now? He’s been sick twice in the past month. Really sick. And both times, Steve and I have gotten really sick, too. I have no voice, my throat is killing me, and my poor little monkey has an ear infection and serious sad face.
Life has been crazy, crazy...
I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful to be home. My 10-day trip was truncated to only four, yet it felt like weeks. I was incredibly busy and barely spoke to Steve. Sleep wasn’t something I encountered much, either. I just want to focus on my sweet family.
Though on the plus side, I get to see Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes in Promises, Promises before indulging at Pastis tomorrow night! So, I really shouldn’t complain.
Laundry is in, getting ready to start packing. Plans were foiled and I’m heading to NYC alone tomorrow. I’ll be so busy that I doubt I’ll be particularly lonely, but I’m sad not to have my traveling companions.
When Ryan really gets into kisses, he makes a drawn out “aaaahhhh” sound while licking my face and sucking on my cheeks. He’s such a loving baby, eager to remind us that our adoration for him is reciprocated. I’m a lucky lady.
Ryan has a lot in common with his cousins.
An affinity for pointing.
An insatiable appetite for grilled cheese.
And, an appreciation for a custom, mom-sewn birthday shirt (hope the photog got good pics of Ryan’s robot shirt!).
Unfortunately, Ryan and Wally also share an allergy to eggs, as we learned the hard way this weekend. We went to brunch on Sunday. Steve got chorizo...
A year ago today, the world changed. Thank you for coming into our lives, Ryan Tate. This past year has been a dream come true for our little family.
I’ve been absent as I prepare for Ryan’s birthday party tomorrow. Joyful work keeps my hands busy. It wouldn’t be hyperbole to say that I’ve dreamt of making my child’s birthday cake for as long as I can remember. Cupcakes and cream cheese frosting are done, chocolate frosting next, and tomorrow I’ll bake Ryan’s cake. Stuffed grape leaves are simmering,...
